Box Anywhere: Nantes Park

Over the weekend I interviewed Caroline Peters, founder of Nantes Athletic Club and the Bridgetown parkrun, which is held at Nantes Park every Saturday, so it seemed the perfect time to share the Nantes Park installment of Box Anywhere.

The park was once notorious for criminal activity, but a recent upgrade – in 2012 – and an increase in community activity in the park has helped to reclaim the area as one that residents can enjoy and take ownership of.

Having worked as a reporter on the area’s local paper in the early 2000s, I was all too familiar with Nantes Park’s notoriety, and so when Coach Romeo and I were scouting locations for Box Anywhere, it was important for me to add Nantes to my list of places I wanted to claim back and fight for.
